About FOCAS

Thank you for stopping by and seeing what FOCAS is all about.   In the early 1980's, a group of professional fisherman founded an organization to promote Christ through the sport of fishing.  Thus, the Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society was established. The vision of these pioneers was to use fishing as a tool to reach the unchurched and strengthen the bond between Christians.

Our chapter is located in Western Kentucky with Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake within the borders of Trigg County. FOCAS of Cadiz began in February of 2003 with 5 members.  We are a group of people that promote fishing through Christ. In addition, we offer family events, a kids derby, and a few friendly competitions.  As you will see through this page and all of our others, the love of fishing is our platform.    FOCAS is not an average bass club as our main goal is to meet new folks, strengthen our bond as Christians, share the Gospel and hopefully represent Christ in a way that is pleasing to God.

FOCAS is a collection of sinners that fall short of the glory of God each and everyday, but this organization provides an opportunity to be better Christians through fellowship, spreading God's Word through testimonies and devotionals and having prayer time at each of our events.   Check out what a few of our members say that FOCAS means to them....

What I like about FOCAS is not just the fishing, but the fellowship. We have a great group of Christian men that not only love fishing but care about their fellow man and showing Christ to others. They are fun to be around and personally they make my Christian walk easier the more I'm around them.

For me, being a part of the FOCAS club is more than just being in a fishing club, it is surrounding myself (and now my son) around Christian men and women. I enjoy the fellowship and devotions before tournaments and friendly competition during tournaments. I have confidence I can reach out to any person in our club for advice on fishing, but more importantly with my faith and other aspects of life. The FOCAS club is a wonderful group of people and I am glad to be a member of it.

What I like about FOCAS is that it combines two things, my love of the Lord and my love for fishing. FOCAS is one way we can fulfill the great commission of spreading the good news of Jesus. We have a devotion and prayer before the start of our tournaments. This may be the only time some of our visitors or people who may just be near us at the launch will hear about Jesus. I enjoy the fellowship and the friendly competition with other believers of Christ.

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men.” Matt 4:18-19

FOCAS CORE BELIEFS

We believe that there is one eternal God, existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative Word of God.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose in-dwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; either they are saved unto the resurrection of life or they are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.   We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that God ordained the family as the basic unit of our society and that through the spiritual church family we can actively demonstrate the love of God to one another.
