FOCAS
hosted the first of four OPEN Bass Tournaments for 2006 with this particular
tournament going to raise funds for a graduation scholarship for a local
high school
senior.
The tournament took place on Saturday, March 11th, with 30 participants. The
numbers were down somewhat as many attributed the unstable weather to be the
holdback for many teams. Nonetheless, most anglers stayed pretty
dry, but had to conquer 25 mph winds along with rough water throughout the
day.Doing the best job of adjusting was the team of
Mike Taylor and Larry Noel winning with a limit of largemouth bass weighing
19.74 pounds. This nice stringer included the largest bass of the tournament with a 6.27 hawg,
giving them two payouts totaling $494.00 for their well earned
victory.
The 2nd place team of John Curtis and DeWayne West came up less
than a pound short of the top honors with a very nice catch of 18.81 pounds.
This duo reported catching 17 keepers and losing a big smallmouth that might
have changed things up some. However, they
collecting $244 to go along with their fun for the day.
