July
13, 2007 "Friday the
13th" proved to be a myth when it came to bad luck, other than the
fishing. The weather conditions were perfect, but the fishing action
proved to very tough. Out of the six boats, only 9 fish were
brought back to the scales.
James and Mason Shelton seemed to have a pretty good night by coming in
with a limit of fish weighing 12.10 pounds. In addition, Mason
caught a 2.8 pound bass to capture the largemouth pot and James landed a
2.8 pound smallmouth to collect the "smalljaw" pot.
Pastor Geoff Baggett invited a member of Crossroads Fellowship, Todd
Price, to fish and the pair found three keepers weighing in at 5.78 pounds
to collect second place honors.
Perhaps the most shocking category of this event was the Optional "Other
Species" Big Fish Pot. Last tournament it took an 11 pound
drum to win, but this time a bluegill won the $30 side pot. George
Martin hooked that bluegill on a crankbait. By the way, George
said it but up a tough fight!
