August 24th Club Night Tourney

August 24, 2007
For the second time this season, all of the boats in the tournament fished Kentucky Lake instead of Barkley with the exception of one boat.   For the second time this season, the lone Barkley boat won the tournament.   This time it was Bruce Higbee going against the flow.   With his partner not showing up, Bruce managed just fine by himself.   He narrowly topped the field with 3 largemouth weighing 7.47 pounds, including the big largemouth at 3.34 pounds.   In fact, this largemouth was only 1/100th of a pound heavier than Dale Fentress and James Major's bass that was 3.33 pounds.
The race for second place and big smallmouth also proved to be very close on the scales.   The team of Todd Price and Geoff Baggett squeaked past James Shelton and Dave Johnson by the narrowest of margins with 6.78 pounds to James and Dave's total of 6.72 pounds.   However, things evened up when both teams weighed their biggest smallmouth.  Todd and Geoff landed a 2.70 pound smalljaw, only to be topped by a 2.75 from James and Dave.
The only category that did not require the need of a accurate scale was on the "Other Species" Pot.   George Martin claimed that title with a 1.72 pound flathead catfish.
